What's Estraderm Matrix?
Estraderm Matrixpflaster help treat menopausal symptoms. This medication is prescribed as hormone replacement therapy (HRT, also HRT or hormone therapy). The active ingredient in the patches (estradiol) is absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream and is similar in this way from the female hormone balance. This menopausal symptoms are alleviated.
What the medication is used?
This medication is prescribed for physical and / or psychological symptoms during menopause. These include:
Hot flashes;
strong perspiration or night sweats;
Asleep or trouble sleeping;
Vaginal dryness, dry mouth and / or dry eyes;
Mood swings;
Distress or depression;
Bone loss (osteoporosis).
These symptoms are due to the declining estrogen production of the ovaries. Hormone replacement therapy compensates for this deficiency, and the symptoms are alleviated. Estraderm matrix contains only an estrogen. It is therefore particularly suitable for women whose uterus was removed. If this does not apply to you, the doctor will prescribe a progestogen to protect the uterus against growths.
How to contact Estraderm Matrix?
Glue described the patch to clean, dry and undamaged skin as on the package insert. Never stick to the chest, but alternately on back, abdomen or hip. Replace the patch on fixed weekdays.
dosage
Estraderm Matrixpflaster are available in several strengths. The doctor will decide which strength is right for you. Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose of Estraderm matrix is as follows:
adult women: Weekly stick twice 1 new patch.

side effects
Hormone replacement therapy can cause side effects. Among the possible side effects when using Estraderm matrix include:
Skin reactions (itching, redness) at the point at which the patch was adhered;
Nausea;
A headache;
Spotting or vaginal discharge;
Breast tenderness or pain.
Usually these complaints sound after a while completely. If they persist, please contact the doctor. In women undergoing hormone replacement therapy, is a slightly increased risk of developing breast cancer, at a thrombosis or other serious illness. When should you not use this medication?
Estraderm Matrix is not suitable for everyone. Do not use the patch if you:
above are sensitive to estradiol or any of the excipients used;
suffering from thrombosis, breast cancer or another hormonal cancer or who have suffered;
suffer from unexplained vaginal bleeding or an abnormal growth of the endometrium;
suffering from a blood disorder or liver disease.
Check with the doctor if the patches are suitable for you if you are suffering from another disease or use other drugs.
Pregnancy - driving ability - alcohol
Estraderm matrix was developed for women in menopause. The patch does not protect against pregnancy. If necessary, use an additional contraceptive. Use this medication during pregnancy or lactation, except on the advice of the doctor.
Your reflexes will not be affected by this drug. Interaction with alcohol are not known.
