What is it and what is it used for?
Daivobet is used for topical treatment of psoriasis (psoriasis) of the scalp as well as on the skin of other parts of the body to treat mild to moderate plaque psoriasis (psoriasis vulgaris) in adults. Psoriasis is caused when skin cells are formed too quickly. This causes redness, scaling and thickening of the skin.Daivobet contains calcipotriol and betamethasone. Use of calcipotriol can normalize the growth of skin cells. Betamethasone inhibits inflammation.
What you need to consider before using it?
Daivobet must not be used,if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to calcipotriol, betamethasone or any of the other ingredients of Daivobet
if you have problems with your calcium levels (talk to your doctor)
if you suffer from the following forms of psoriasis: erythrodermic and pustular psoriasis exfoliative and (talk to your doctor)
As Daivobet contains a strong steroid, it should NOT be applied to skin areas that are affected by the following infections or diseases:
Infections caused by viruses (eg. As cold sores or chicken pox)
Infections caused by fungi (eg. As athlete's foot or ringworm)
Infections caused by bacteria
Infections caused by parasites (eg. As scabies)
Tuberculosis (TB) or syphilis
perioral dermatitis (rash with redness of the skin around the mouth)
thin skin, easily damaged skin vessels, stretch marks
Ichthyosis (dry skin with fish scales)
Acne (pimples)
Rosacea (strong feeling of warmth in the face and strong facial flushing)
Sores or cracked skin
Itching of the anus (back) or genitals (sex organs).
Take special care with the use of Daivobet gel is required
If you are taking other medicines that contain a corticosteroid, as it may cause side effects.
If you use this medicine for a long time and want to exit the application (if steroids are discontinued abruptly, there is a danger that the psoriasis worsens or again 'flares').
If you have diabetes mellitus (diabetes) as the steroid may affect your blood sugar levels.

Special precautions
Avoid treating more than 30% of your body surface area and do not use more than 15 grams per day.

Daivobet is not recommended for use in children under 18 years.
In application of Daivobet with other medicinal products
Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines / or have recently taken / used, even if it is not prescribed.
pregnancy and breast feeding period
You may Daivobet if you are pregnant (or might be pregnant) or breastfeeding, only use it if your medical practitioner deems appropriate. If your doctor has allowed you to breastfeed, be careful with the use of Daivobet and do not wear it on the chest.

This medicine should not affect the ability to drive and use machines.
Important information about some of the ingredients of Daivobet
Daivobet contains butylhydroxytoluene (E321) which may cause, irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes local skin reactions (eg contact dermatitis. B.).
How is it used?
Apply Daivobet exactly as your doctor has told you to. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.As Daivobet apply? Daivobet is applied to the skin.
Instructions for the correct application
Apply Daivobet only on the affected skin and not on other parts of the skin that are not affected by the psoriasis.

The use of excessive quantities of Daivobet over a prolonged period can lead to increased calcium in the blood, which usually normalises when discontinuing treatment.

What are possible side effects?
Like all medicines, Daivobet can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.In about 1 in 12 patients experience side effects. Most side effects are reactions at the site at which the gel has been applied.

Uncommon (affects less than 1 in 100):
Worsening of your psoriasis. If deteriorates your psoriasis, tell your doctor as soon as possible.
From some serious side effects, we know that they betamethasone (a strong steroid), one of the ingredients of Daivobet, caused. You should inform your doctor as soon as possible if any of these serious side effects you are experiencing. These side effects include:

Changes of hair growth
Rash with redness of the skin around the mouth (perioral dermatitis)
Rash with inflammation or swelling (allergic contact dermatitis)
Small white spots (Kolloidmilium)
Depigmentation (lightening of the skin)
Other less serious side effects that can occur with the use of calcipotriol
Photosensitivity reaction, which leads to rash

How should it be stored?
Store drug out of reach of children.Do not use X after the expiry date "EXP" stated on the carton after no longer apply. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
Do not refrigerate. Tube in the outer carton to protect from light.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist should be disposed of as the product when you no longer require it. These measures will help to protect the environment.
